Billing & Usage

uRun operates on prepaid credits, which Sessions consume as they run.

This page provides an overview of how billing works and instructions for managing your costs for shared inference.

Questions about billing for dedicated or custom inference?

For billing and usage details specific to dedicated or custom inference, contact us.

All organization members can view the Billing and Usage pages in the uRun console. Only organization admins can adjust billing settings and manually purchase credits.

How credits work

  • Your organization's subscription includes a monthly allowance of credits. This recurring allowance lets you explore and experiment regardless of whether your uRun organization is new or established. The size of the allowance depends on your subscription tier.
  • Additional credits are prepaid. You pay for credits beyond the included allowance before you use them. You can buy credits manually or configure an automatic refill. Note that automatic refills are enabled by default.
  • Credits expire depending on how they were acquired. Included credits expire on a monthly basis. When you're billed for a new month of your subscription and granted a fresh allowance of included credits, any unused included credits from the previous month expire. Included credits do not roll over month to month. Additional credits you buy expire 1 year after purchase. This applies to both manual purchases and automatic refills of additional credits. Because of these expiration dates, your included credits are spent before your additional credits.
  • Credits exist at the organization level. If your organization has multiple environments, they all consume credits from the same organization-level credit balance.
  • If your organization runs out of credits, live Sessions terminate, and new Sessions are rejected. This is why automatic refills are enabled by default. If automatic refills are disabled, we'll email your organization's admins a notification when we estimate your org is about 24 hours away from running out of credits.

Pricing

The price of a credit depends on how you purchase credits. For current rates, refer to the billing page in the uRun console.

  • Manual credit purchases offer a discount for buying in bulk. The discount rate scales up with the size of the manual purchase.
  • Automatic refills have the same per-credit price regardless of how many credits are purchased in a given refill.

Consumption

As a shared inference Session moves through the Session lifecycle, credits are consumed during only the live phase.

Credit consumption rates vary by model. For example, audio models consume credits faster than chat models because they deliver more. Each model available for shared inference has its own rate. For current consumption rates, refer to the billing page in the uRun console.

Update your payment method

To change your payment method, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Click Manage payment method on Stripe.
  3. On the Stripe-hosted page, enter and save your updated payment method.

Buy credits manually

When you buy credits manually, you get a progressive discount that scales with the size of the purchase. To buy credits manually, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Select Buy credits.
  3. Choose how many credits you want to purchase at this time.
  4. Confirm to finalize the purchase.

Configure automatic refills

Automatic refills are enabled by default and allow an organization to configure the following thresholds:

  • Minimum balance - when your credit balance falls to this threshold, an automatic refill will be triggered.
  • Refill balance target - when your credits are automatically refilled, your organization will purchase enough to bring you up to this threshold.
  • Monthly spend cap - if an automatic refill would exceed your monthly spend cap, the refill will only spend what's left of your monthly budget. This means the refill might not take you all the way up to your refill balance target.

Your organization admins will receive an email notification when your organization is getting close to triggering an automatic refill. If you've hit your monthly spend cap, we'll email your organization's admins a notification when we estimate your org is about 24 hours away from running out of credits.

To disable automatic refills, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Under Automatic refills flip the toggle to OFF.

To enable automatic refills or adjust thresholds, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Under Automatic refills make sure the toggle is ON.
  3. Select Edit thresholds.
  4. Adjust your Minimum balance, Refill balance target, and Monthly spend cap as needed.
  5. Click Save.

Change your organization's subscription tier

Your organization's tier for shared inference impacts entitlements such as monthly included credits and maximum concurrent Sessions.

Upgrades apply immediately. If you upgrade your tier, your cost and included credits for the current month are prorated based on the number of days left until your next billing date.

Downgrades apply on your next billing date. If your tier downgrades while you're running more concurrent Sessions than your new tier allows, excess Sessions will be terminated on a last-in, first-out basis.

To change your organization's tier, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Select Change tier.
  3. Confirm that you understand the impact of changing tiers.

Pause or reactivate your organization's subscription

If you know you won't use uRun for a while and plan to resume use in the future, you can pause your subscription and reactivate it later. Pausing retains your balance of additional credits you've purchased, though you won't be able to spend them until you reactivate your organization's subscription. Note that while your subscription is paused, your additional credits will continue to expire 1 year after they were purchased.

Pausing takes effect on your next billing date. If any Sessions are running when your subscription is paused, the Sessions will be terminated. New Sessions will be rejected until you reactivate your subscription.

Reactivating takes place immediately and sets a new billing date for your organization.

To pause or reactivate your organization's subscription, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Select Pause subscription or Reactivate subscription.
  3. Confirm that you understand the impact of pausing or reactivating your subscription.

Review payment history

The following payment history is available in the console:

  • When and how much you were billed for your monthly subscription.
  • How many credits were purchased, when, and by what mechanism.

To access this information, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Review your Invoices.

Monitor usage

To see your organization's consumption history, credit balance, and an estimate of how long your credit balance will last, do the following:

  1. In the uRun console, go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Review the available data.
  3. To see a different range of historical data, adjust the time picker.

Usage is organization-wide

The Usage page in the uRun console shows organization-level data. To see consumption history for a specific environment, go to the overview page in the uRun console for that environment and check the Cost or Cost by model API chart.
